Car Drifting Rules

Please familiarize yourself with these Car Drifting Rules to ensure an enjoyable and successful day. Drivers are expected to conduct themselves in a mature and responsible manner considering the various abilities of the other drivers. Drivers shall respect the directions and decisions of the officials at all times. Drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew and guests. Shannonville Motorsport Park reserves the right to deny participation at any time.

Car Drifting Technical Checklist

Please review the track worthiness of your car before going out on the track.

All vehicles must have a valid event technical inspection sticker before going out on track.

Helmet with DOT rating or better is required.
Fully operational seat belts. 
Operational fire extinguisher (minimum 2lb) 
Full tank of fuel
Tires properly inflated and structurally sound. Wheel nuts tight. 
Battery securely fastened, no bungy cords 
Bumpers, doors and body panels in place. 
Driver side of front windshield clear of damage.
All loose items removed from passenger compartment. 
No loose items hanging from vehicle 
Properly working front and rear brakes. 
No fluid leaks of any kind. 
Tow hooks at front and rear of vehicle. 

Car Drifting Personal Checklist

Drink plenty of water or electrolytes, have a snack.
Take a break when you are tired. 
Check your car regularly. 
No alcohol or drug use during the event
Ask for advice. 

Car Drifting Track Rules

Yellow flagYellow FlagCaution, reduce speed, no passing
Black flagBlack FlagDriver warning, proceed to pit lane at reduced speed and see an official
Red flagRed FlagEmergency, reduce speed and proceed to pitlane, be prepared to stop on track if directed by an official
Checkered flagCheckered FlagSession is over, proceed to pit lane at reduced speed

Be aware of the yellow blend line when you enter and exit pit lane.  You must remain to the left of the blend line when you enter and exit pit lane.

New and inexperienced drifters must complete three events on the skid pad to the satisfaction of the officials before participating on the main track.

If something does not feel right, please wave the other participants through and proceed to pit lane.

Dirt dropping and wall tapping is not permitted.  Violators may be denied participation.

All persons, cameras and personal effects must remain within the vehicle passenger compartment. Violators may be denied participation.

Do not get out of your car while on the track unless it is on fire.

Passengers are permitted (with appropriate wristband).

Pocket/mini-bikes, motorcycle and go karts are not permitted in the paddock.  Participants are responsible to clean-up oil and fluid spills in their paddock area.

Maximum paddock speed limit is 10 kph
